2009 Men’s Soccer Highlights

Philadelphia, PA- The 2009 men's soccer season wrapped up with the Rams finishing 11-7-0 overall and had a 7-4-0 record in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).  The season was highlighted by a win over East Stroudsburg 3-2 in overtime and the team receiving their first-ever bid in the CACC Tournament.  The following are highlights of the top Ram contributors this season:

Senior defender/midfielder Emmanuel Asangmbeng (Riverdale, MD/Bladensburg) was named to the 2nd Team Daktronics All-East Region for his efforts this year.  Asangmbeng started in all 18 games for the Rams, scoring two goals and tallying one assist.  He also started four games in net for the men recording 17 saves and a 3.00 GAA.

Sophomore midfielder Ryan Purnell (Hamilton, Bermuda/The Berkeley Institute) was selected as CACC ‘Rookie of the Year' after a breakout 2009 season.  Purnell scored five goals and had six assists while starting in 13 games.  He picked up his first game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Mercy College.  Purnell was also chosen 2nd Team All-CACC.

Senior forward Svetozar Gladic (Novi Sad, Serbia/Sacred Heart University) earned 1st Team All-CACC after registering 11 goals and three assists in 14 games played.  His 25 points and five game-winning goals led the Rams this year.  His biggest goal of the year came in an overtime thriller against East Stroudsburg with 1:21 left on the clock.

Senior defender Sean Campbell (Westbury, NY/Long Island Lutheran) was selected to the 2nd Team All-CACC for his defensive efforts.  Campbell started in all 18 games for the Rams and was a part of the defense that posted a 1.59 GAA. 

Junior midfielder Mike Mousaw (Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) was named CACC ‘Honorable Mention' after tallying two goals and two assists.
