2009 Volleyball Highlights

Philadelphia, PA- The 2009 volleyball season was one to remember.  The Lady Rams had an overall record of 32-6 and a 17-2 conference record.  The 32 wins are the most wins in a season under head coach Mark Magarity.  The ladies were two sets away from winning a CACC Championship against Georgian Court University but eventually fell 3-1.  Here is a look at some of the key contributors this year:

Senior outside-hitter Celena Rendon (San Antonio, TX/Tom C. Clark) was named the 2009 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) ‘Player of the Year' and was also picked for the CACC All-Conference 1st Team.  Rendon finished the season with 242 kills and 386 digs.

Senior middle-hitter Nicole Berkstresser (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) was also selected to the CACC All-Conference 1st Team. 

In their final season as Lady Rams, Rendon and Berkstresser combined to compile a total of 510 kills and 415 digs.

Senior Cindy Adams (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood Area) was named to the CACC All-Tournament team for her efforts during the conference tournament.  Adams had 170 kills  and a team-high 389 digs during the season, along with 31 service aces.

Senior defensive specialist Natalie Amodei (West Chester, PA/Bishop Shanahan) was selected CACC All-Conference 2nd Team.  Amodei had an excellent defensive season recording 338 digs.  Senior middle hitter Molly Malone (Rochester, NY/Gates Chili) was named CACC All-Conference ‘Honorable Mention' for her efforts this season and was also named to the CACC All-Tournament Team.  Malone made school history by recording her 500th block this year.
