Lady Rams Drop a Tough One in OT at Shippensburg 76-70

Shippensburg, PA-The PhilaU women's basketball team came close to starting the season off undefeated, but fell in an over-time thriller to Shippensburg 76-70.  Senior center Jessica Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) led the women with 21 points, twelve rebounds, and seven steals.

The Lady Rams shot 37% from the field while Shippensburg shot 45%.

Senior guard Nina Brascetta (Philadelphia, PA/ Archbishop Ryan) added 13 points and two assists for the women.

The Lady Rams found themselves down 16 at halftime, but that was not going to stop them from hustling.  Slowly the cut the deficit and with 2:07 left in the  game sophomore forward Christine Wooding (Northfield, NJ/ Mainland Regional) hit a lay-up to tie the game at 60-60.  Wooding finished the game with six points, six rebounds, and two blocks.

The PhilaU women would find themselves with a two-point lead and seven seconds left until Shippensburg would knock down two free-throws to send it into overtime.  

In the overtime period the Lady Rams would find themselves up 70-68 with 1:33 left, but an 8-0 run by the Raiders would close the game out.   

The Lady Rams will be back in action on Saturday (11/28) when they travel to Millersville for a 1:00 PM start.
