2009 Womens Tennis Highlights
Philadelphia, PA- The women's tennis team wrapped up the 2009 season with an overall record of 9-7 and a CACC record of 5-3. Key victories on the season included an 8-1 victory over Chestnut Hill (8/29) in the home opener and a 7-2 win over La Salle University (9/26). The team also qualified for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament as the #4 seed. The season ended with the news that long-time coach Marty Gilbert would retire after 12 seasons at the helm for the women. Here is how some of the top Lady Rams contributors fared this year:
Junior Daniela Rodriguez (Quito, Ecuador/Colegio Menor) was named 1st Team All CACC for her efforts this season. It was a pinnacle year for Rodriguez as she recorded her 100th win. She was also named CACC ‘Player of the Week' twice during the year. Rodriguez finished the season 12-3 overall.
Freshman Stephanie Miller (Fleetwood, PA/ Fleetwood) went 8-4 on the season while sophomore Brittany Villa (Logan, NJ/ Kingsway Regional) went 6-3 while being the doubles partner with Rodriguez.
