Lady Rams Fall to West Chester 84-69 in Non-Conference Play
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Lady Rams (2-3, 1-0 CACC) dropped a non-conference contest 84-69 against West Chester University (5-0, 0-0 PSAC) on Wednesday (12/2). PhilaU senior forward Kate Brennan (Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) led all scorers with 24 points, two assists and one rebound.
The win was number 400 for West Chester head coach Deirdre Kane, who is in her 23rd season at WCU.
The Golden Rams outshot the Lady Rams 53% to 39% from the field.
The Lady Rams started the game off on an 11-4 run after a lay-up from senior center Jess Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) put the women up seven at the 16:41 mark. Romano finished the game with 17 points, eight rebounds and two steals.
The Golden Rams would tie the game on a free-throw with 11:03 left in the first half and that would be the last time the Lady Rams would see a lead in the game.
The Lady Rams would find themselves down eight at half time and would get to within three after two Romano free-throws at the 16:02 mark, but that would be the closest the home team would get.
PhilaU junior forward Ashley Gaskins (Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) would add 11 points, four rebounds and three steals for the Lady Rams in 36 minutes of play.
The squad returns to action on Tuesday (12/8) as they travel to conference foe Goldey-Beacom College for a 6:00 PM start.
