CACC Awards: Three Phila U. Athletes Honored
Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University student-athletes picked up three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) honors mid-way through October.
Volleyball freshman Rebekah Waybrant (Gettysburg, PA/ Gettysburg) took ‘Rookie of the Week' honors after helping the Lady Rams to a 3-1 week in which their only loss was to CACC power Georgian Court. Waybrant had 12 kills and six digs on the week.
Cross country standout Shawn D'Andrea (Blackwood, NJ/ Paul VI) earned his fourth Runner of the Week honor after finishing second overall at the Cabrini Invitational. D'Andrea and his Rams will take a week off before gearing up for the CACC Championships on Saturday, October 25th at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.
Women's tennis Player of the Week #1 singles Adriana Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Colegio Sagrados Corazones) did not give up a single match this week as her squad took the CACC regular-season title and extended their 12 match winning streak. She currently has a 13-2 overall record this year, including the ITA East Regionals. The Lady Rams begin CACC Team Championships this week as the #1 seed.
