CACC Awards: PhilaU Notches Several Conference Awards
Philadelphia, PA- Freshman Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie, PA/ Pennridge) earned women's cross country Rookie of the Week honors after finishing in fifth-place overall at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's cross country championship over the weekend. For her performance, Simonetti was named CACC Rookie of the Year. She earned CACC Runner/Rookie of the Week honors a total of seven times this year.
Cross country head coach Dave Thomas was named both the men's and women's Coach of the Year, as his women won the team championship and the men took third overall.
Women's volleyball senior middle hitter Molly Malone (Rochester, NY/ Gates Chili) earned CACC Honorable Mention as she averaged 2.44 kills with a .457 hitting percentage last week. Malone also averaged 1.56 blocks in a 3-0 week for the Lady Rams.
Women's soccer senior defender/midfielder Rebecca Kennedy (Forest Lake, MN/ Forest Lake) was named CACC Honorable Mention after scoring her first goal of the season to tie the #1 CACC-ranked Lady Rams up with Georgian Court and send the game into an eventual 1-1 double OT tie with the conference regular season championship on the line. She also added an assist in a 5-0 shutout of Bloomfield.
