Romano, Yocum Tabbed ESPN the Magazine District 2 All-Academic
Philadelphia, PA- PhilaU women's basketball junior center Jess Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) and men's junior forward Mike Yocum (Dresher, PA/ Episcopal Academy) have been named to ESPN the Magazine's Academic All-District 2 Basketball Team, as released earlier this month.
The Lady Ram's leading scorer (18.5 ppg) and rebounder (11.0 rpg), Romano earned ‘First Team' honors for the All-District Team. She has a 3.9 GPA as a finance major at PhilaU. She currently ranks #25 in NCAA Division II in scoring, and has earned WBCA, ECAC and CACC awards this season. Romano will have her name placed on the national ballot, with the 2008-09 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Basketball Team to be released on Wednesday, February 24th.
Yocum earned ‘Second Team' honors for this award, carrying a 3.94 GPA as a marketing major at PhilaU. He is currently ranked #14 in NCAA Division II in blocks per game (2.5 bpg). He is averaging 9.7 ppg and 8.5 rpg this season, while starting in every game for head coach Herb Magee.
