Basketball Teams Raising Breast Cancer Awareness on February 14th

ATLANTA -  The Philadelphia University men's and women's basketball teams will join the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and over 1,250 schools and organizations that have committed to participating in the 2009 WBCA Pink ZoneTM initiative in February.

PhilaU's ‘Pink Zone' day will be on Saturday, February 14th at the 2/4 p.m. games.

Fans and players are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness.  The PhilaU Athletic department will be selling Pink Zone t-shirts and pink carnations with the proceeds going to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.

The WBCA Pink ZoneTM initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The week set aside for this year's initiative is February 13-22.

The NCAA has also joined the WBCA Pink Zone initiative by implementing the "Calling for a Cure" campaign where all NCAA women's basketball officials will be blowing a pink whistle February 13-22.
