- The roof at the Gallagher Athletic Center may need to be checked after the #25 Philadelphia University Rams (3-2, 1-0 CACC) blew the top off in a 68-64 win over visiting #7 Merrimack College (0-2, 0-1 NE-10) on Saturday afternoon. In a standing room only crowd, PhilaU Head Coach Herb Magee was honored for 50 years at the University as his Rams upset the nationally-ranked Warriors.

Lady Rams Power 3-0 over Caldwell to Advance to CACC Championship
The Philadelphia University women’s volleyball team (32-5, 17-2 CACC) advanced to the CACC Championship match in a 3-0 win over Caldwell College (21-12, 16-3 CACC) on Friday night. This will be the third year (of four) that the Lady Rams have made it to the title match. PhilaU will face host and three-time defending champion Georgian Court in the Championship on Saturday (11/14) at 1:00 p.m.

The Rams cut the Lakers lead to just one with 45 seconds to go, but a last second three-point attempt by senior forward Malcolm Ingram was just off the mark.

Senior middle-hitter Molly Malone (Rochester, NY/ Gates Chili) earned her 500th career block in the win, racking up three blocks along with nine kills and two digs.

Bloomfield College and Holy Family University have been chosen to win their respective divisions according to the 2009-10 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball preseason poll. PhilaU was picked third in the south. The voting was very close this year, as conducted by the 14 CACC head coaches.

Chestnut Hill College junior forward Lauren Riiff has been chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Soccer Player of the Year, as the 2009 All-Conference team was released today. Trisha Sileo of Philadelphia University was named Rookie of the Year, while Seamus O’Connor of Chestnut Hill was voted Coach of the Year.
