Pitching Falters, Offense Struggles as Rams Lose to Caldwell 17-1
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Rams (10-23, 7-9 CACC) dropped a CACC match 17-1 to the Caldwell College Cougars (11-17, 5-10 CACC) today at Alumni Field.
The Cougars struck first in the second inning on a RBI double to right center field. Caldwell added three more runs on three doubles in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The Rams cut the lead to 3-1 on a home run in the 4th inning by senior first baseman Rob Fisher (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan).
Caldwell took control in the 5th inning, scoring six runs on four base hits and a pair of walks to take a 10-1 lead. Caldwell added another run in 6th and threatened some more, but junior right hander John Pugh (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) shut the door to hold the score at 11-1. The Cougars added three more runs in 7th inning on a double to left centerfield and a sacrifice fly.
Caldwell added three more runs in the bottom of the 8th inning on a three run homerun. The Rams were unable to generate any offense as PhilaU loses 17-1 to Caldwell College.
Up next for the Rams is a CACC doubleheader against University of the Sciences on Wednesday, April 22nd. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
