Rams Fall to #1 Dominican in 12 innings
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Rams (10-20, 7-6 CACC) dropped a CACC matchup against #1 regionally ranked Dominican College (23-9, 11-5 CACC) 2-1 in 12 innings today in Orangeburg, NY.
A traditional pitcher's duel was the story of this game, as the Chargers took the game in extra innings in a low scoring affair.
Dominican struck first in third inning on a RBI sac fly to centerfield. PhilaU tied the game with a sac fly by junior shortstop Tyler Mentzer (Gettysburg, PA/Delone Catholic) in the top of the 9th inning that scored senior centerfielder Dan Ellmer (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham).
In the bottom of the 12th, the Chargers scored the game winning run in a walk off RBI infield single.
Leading the way for the Rams was the picthing staff led by junior lefthander Brian Rousseau (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh). Rousseau threw six innings, allowing only one run on three hits and struck out three.
The Rams return to action to finish up the season series with the Chargers Saturday, April 18th. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
