Warriors Get on Top Early, Beat Rams 13-4

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia Univrsity Rams (10-24, 7-10 CACC) lost 13-4 to the Nyack College Warriors (14-10, 10-8 CACC) today at Alumni Field. 

Nyack struck first, scoring five runs on three hits and three errors in the first inning. Over the next few innings, the game turned into a pitchers duel, with few hits and no runs scored.

The Warriors soon struck again, adding two more runs in fifth inning. The Rams answered when senior outfielder Dan Ellmer (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) scored on a sacrifice fly to centerfield off the bat of junior shortstop Tyler Mentzer (Gettysburg, PA/Delone Catholic) and scored the second on a passed ball, but the rally ended with a strikeout. 

PhilaU scored two more runs in the seventh inning; the first coming in when freshman first baseman Garrett Buehler (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) drove in Dan Ellmer with a single through the right side. The second run came across when junior third baseman Dan Wothers (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) drove in junior outfielder Mike Anderson (Waldwick, PA/Waldwick).

Nyack soon added two more runs in the eighth inning on several singles and took a 13-4 lead and the lead would hold as the Rams lost to Nyack 13-4.

Next up for the Rams is a doubleheader tomorrow, April 25th at Nyack, finishing up the season series with the Warriors. First pitch for the doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
