Ram Madness 2009 Tonight!!
Philadelphia, PA- Get ready to wear your maroon and grey. PhilaU's annual Ram Madness - a night of school spirit, great giveaways, raffles and high energy tipping off the Rams exciting 2009-2010 basketball season - will be held on Wed., Oct. 14 from 7 to 8:45 p.m. in the Gallagher Athletic Center.
All members of the University community, family and friends are invited to cheer on the PhilaU men's and women's basketball teams, and celebrate Philadelphia University's 125th Anniversary. Student-athletes will also be honored for academic honors from 2008-09 seasons during the event.
Performances scheduled for the night will include PhilaU's cheerleaders and dance team, and the Harlem Wizard's ‘Blackjack'. Fans will be introduced to the 2009-10 men's and women's basketball teams. Audience members will be invited to compete with the teams in different basketball-themed contests.
As part of the festivities, PhilaU legendary men's basketball coach Herb Magee will be recognized for his 50 years as both a player and coach at Philadelphia University.
A special tribute will be held in honor of Marcel Modeste, a former PhilaU basketball player who recently passed away.
Clubs/Orgs Spirit Banner Contest
New to Ram Madness this year, the final judging of the
Student Organization Banner Contest will take place. The final
decision will be made by the loudest audience cheer. The winning
banner will hang in the gym at the beginning of the basketball
season.
For those clubs and organizations wishing to participate in the banner contest, here are guidelines to follow:
- Notify Heather Horowitz in the Student Activities Office (Kanbar, Room 301) by Friday, Oct. 9, if your group wishes to participate.
- Banners are due to Brad Koch in The Gallagher Center by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
- Banner theme is the Philadelphia University 125th Anniversary
- Banners are to be made on one (1) full-sized bed sheet
A Philadelphia University history trivia contest will be held in honor of the 125th Anniversary. Trivia cards can be purchased for $1 at the Make-A-Wish table in The Gallagher Center lobby the night of Ram Madness. The trivia winner will receive a gift card to the University Bookstore. All proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Madness 'til Midnight
Following Ram Madness, the Campus Activities Board (CAB)
will host a Madness 'til Midnight event in the Kanbar Performance
Space with food and music to continue the PhilaU fun all the way to
midnight!
