Cross Country, Volleyball Earn CACC Weekly Honors
Philadelphia, PA- Three Philadelphia University student-athletes earned accolades for their performances last week, highlighted by sophomore runner Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie, PA/ Pennridge) who earned the first-ever bid by a PhilaU or CACC runner to the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships.
Simonetti was named CACC ‘Runner of the Week' for her performance, a fifth-place finish at the NCAA East Regionals in Boston where she ran the 6K in 22:52 to advance to the Nationals at Southern Indiana University, held on Saturday (11/21). Also earning weekly honors was men's senior runner Andrew Piotrowski (Warminster, PA/ William Tennant) who earned ‘Honorable Mention' after finish 30th at Regionals in 33:30.
Two volleyball players were named ‘Honorable Mention' this week, senior Cindy Adams (Fleetwood, PA/ Fleetwood) and freshman Ellie Edgar (Cuyahoga Falls, OH/ Cuyahoga Falls) who helped the team to a 2-0 week and a #2 seed in the conference playoffs.
