Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Athletic Department has teamed up with two national organizations, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for two hoops events in the upcoming weeks.
The first, ‘Pink Zone', will be held on Saturday (2/13) during the PhilaU women's and men's basketball games vs. Bloomfield College at 2/4 p.m. in the Gallagher Athletic Center. Fans are encouraged to wear pink that day to support breast cancer awareness. The event is one of many in a unified effort for the WBCA nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
The second upcoming event will be The Coaches vs. Cancer Division II & III Tip-Off Breakfast on Monday (3/1) from 8-9:30 a.m. at Neumann University. PhilaU men's coach Herb Magee will be a featured speaker at the event, along with Temple coach Fran Dunphy and Saint Joseph's coach Phil Martelli. Tickets are $35 per person to the event, which unites the American Cancer Society and the NABC in the fight against cancer.
