American Cancer’s Relay for Life Slated for 4/9-4/10
Philadelphia, PA- Mark your calendars for the 2010 American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event at Philadelphia University- to be held on Friday, April 9th at 6 p.m.- Saturday, April 10th at 6 a.m. in the Gallagher Athletic Center, announced Co-Chairs Vicky Hilferty (women's cross country) and Tara Hastings on Monday.
Organized by Hilferty and Hastings, this year's goal is to raise $30,000 at PhilaU. Through the dollars raised at the Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society is able to provide programs and services to cancer patients and their families. You can make a donation to help support the cause or sign up for the event at www.relayforlife.org/paphilau.
Participants can sign up either as a team or individually.
Last year- the event's first year on campus, PhilaU was able to raise $24,000 and involve over 300 faculty, staff and students including members of several athletic teams. The Athletic Department's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) formed a team last year which included the majority of the women's basketball team and raised $300 alone. The team hopes to make an even bigger contribution this year.
