Phila Inquirer Names Six PhilaU Athletes to Academic All-Area Team

Philadelphia, PA- Six Philadelphia University spring student-athletes were selected to the annual Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Teams, as released in the newspaper this past Sunday (July 19th). An overall male and female ‘Academic Player of the Year' was also selected from all the student-athletes voted on year-round, and PhilaU graduate student and Phila Inquirer field hockey ‘Player of the Year' Brooke Woodland was in the running for the top female honor.
Spring athletes selected were: Daniela Rodriguez (women's tennis), Briana Zelinski (women's crew), Jared Farbman and Tyler Mentzer (baseball), Tom McAvoy (men's tennis) and Thomas Ferree-Gooding (men's crew).
The academic teams were voted on by the 28 area sports information directors (SIDs).
