PhilaU Gets Seven Student-Athletes on CACC Award List

Philadelphia, PA- For the second time in as many weeks, seven Philadelphia University student-athletes were honored by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for their showings in last week's contests.

The list of standouts is highlighted by junior women's tennis player Daniela Rodriguez (Quito, Ecuador/ Colegio Menor) who earned ‘Player of the Week' honors for the second time consecutively.  Rodriguez went undefeated at #1 singles and doubles, giving up just two games total in her doubles position.

PhilaU cross country runners junior Shawn D'Andrea (Blackwood, NJ/ Paul VI) and sophomore Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie, PA/ Pennridge) both earned ‘Runner of the Week' accolades after individually finishing in first-place in their races.  Simonetti helped the women to the Wilmington Invitational crown, while D'Andrea lifted the men to second overall (shy of the title by just one point).

Men's soccer senior forward Svetozar Gladic (Novi Sad, Serbia) was tabbed ‘Player of the Week' after scoring four goals last week, including a hat trick vs. Felician and the game-winner against East Stroudsburg in double overtime.

Also of note were three student-athletes earning ‘Honorable Mention' nods: women's soccer freshman goalie Kelli Kowalewski (Shamong, NJ/ Seneca), volleyball senior outside-hitter Celena Rendon (San Antonio, TX/ Tom C. Clark) and cross country sophomore Anjelica DiNucci (Baltimore, MD/ Dulaney).
