PhilaU Announces Hiring of Tennis Coach Lance Lee

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University Athletic Director Tom Shirley is proud to announce the hiring of Lance Lee and the new men’s and women’s tennis coach effective Tuesday (12/14).

"We welcome Lance to the PhilaU family," said Shirley.

Lee comes to the university with an extensive background in tennis both as a collegiate player and instructor. He has served as Director of Tennis at Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education Center since 2007 where he has overseen the strategic and operating plans for the facility as well as instructed young tennis players.

“My first order of business will be to meet with both teams” said Lee, “I want to keep the traditions of PhilaU tennis by enhancing the legacy that it has already earned.”

Though this is his first official collegiate coaching position, Lee volunteered to work with the PhilaU tennis teams in 2010 as an assistant.

While attending Hampton University where he received his degree in sports management, Lee played two full seasons at the Division I level. He then continued his education at the University of the District of Columbia where he earned his Juris Doctorate.

Lee has been a long time Philadelphia area resident, growing up in Mt. Airy, PA and graduating from Central High School. He now resides in Lawnside, NJ.
