PhilaU Athletics Bids Athletic Trainer Matt Maust Adieu
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Athletic Department is saying goodbye to one of its’ esteemed staff members at the end of the month…sort of.
Head Athletic Trainer Matt Maust, a fixture at PhilaU athletic events since 2006, will be leaving his position to begin his studies in the Physician Assistant (PA) program at the University. Maust will spend two years as a full-time student in the program and has also received a graduate assistant position in the Athletic Department-working as an athletic trainer.
As of July 1st, former Assistant Athletic Trainer Erin Pletcher will be promoted to the head position, while former Villanova trainer Adam Olsavsky has been hired to be Pletcher’s assistant.
“I wish Matt nothing but the best as he enters a new phase in his career, although our department is happy to keep him on as a graduate assistant,” said Athletic Director Tom Shirley.
Maust served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Delaware Valley College for five years before coming to PhilaU. He received a M.S. in athletic training from West Virginia University in 1995 and a B.S. in community health from Slippery Rock University in 1993.
