Villanova’s Adam Olsavsky Hired as PhilaU Asst. Athletic Trainer

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University Athletic Director Tom Shirley has announced the hiring of Adam Olsavsky to be an Assistant Athletic Trainer at PhilaU, effective July 1st

“We welcome Adam to the PhilaU Athletic Department, knowing he will be well prepared to serve our student-athletes with the DI experience he has gained working at Villanova and other top notch institutions,” said Shirley.

Olsavsky comes to East Falls from Division I Villanova University, where he has served as an athletic trainer working primarily with the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams since 2006.  He also has training experience at Penn State and the University of Virginia, while serving as a student trainer at his alma mater, West Chester University.

The newest addition to the PhilaU Athletic Department, Olsavsky graduated from the University of Virginia with a M.Ed. in athletic training in ’05 and received his B.S. in athletic training from West Chester University in ’04.

“Adam brings a wealth of knowledge to our department, and I’m looking forward to having him on board,” said Erin Pletcher, who will become the Head Athletic Trainer in July.

As of July 1st, the University bids farewell to Head Athletic Trainer Matt Maust, who will begin his studies in the PhilaU physician assistant (P.A.) program this summer.  With Maust’s resignation, current Assistant Athletic Trainer Pletcher has been promoted to the Head Trainer position.  Maust will continue to serve the Rams as a graduate assistant in the training room while enrolled in the P.A. program.
