Fourteen Philadelphia University student-athletes named to the CACC All-Spring Academic team
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Fourteen Philadelphia University student-athletes were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) 2012 All-Spring Academic Team on Friday.
In order to be named to the CACC All-Spring Academic team, a student-athlete must have participated in a CACC-Championship sport in the spring, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher through the spring semester.
The 14 student-athletes on the all-Spring Academic team is a conference-high.
Women’s lacrosse led Philadelphia with six honorees: Kailin Hodel, Taylor Peltzer, CariBeth Shappell, Rebecca Cox, Carli DiCioccio, and Melissa Styer. Softball’s Allison Glaser, Kacie DeMaio and Samantha Riabko were named to the team. Representing men’s golf are Tom Mahone, Ed DiRugeris, and Tim Gobrecht. Jeff Bohus and Rob Spragis were the two baseball players to be honored.
Hodel, Peltzer and Glaser are three-time honorees, while Bohus, Cox and Gobrecht are on the team for a second time.
Thirty-seven Philadelphia University student-athletes were named to the CACC All-Academic team during the 2011-12 season.
