Five XC/Women’s Soccer Players Earn CACC Awards
Philadelphia, PA- Five Philadelphia University student-athletes came away with weekly Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) awards after strong showings.
Four XC runners stole the show, as senior Sarah Simonetti was named ‘Runner of the Week’ while rookies Taylor Falvey and Tim Malloy earned ‘Rookie of the Week’ honors. Simonetti won the Philly Metro Championships in 19:23, while Malloy took sixth (28:51) and Falvey placed third (20:44). Senior Gabrielle Dei Tos was tabbed ‘Honorable Mention’ after finishing fourth (20:57) at the meet.
Women’s soccer sophomore midfielder Nicole Van Bourgondien earned a ‘Honorable Mention’ nod after striking the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Holy Family University. She scored in the 88th minute.
