Gornowski appointed director of sports information

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Philadelphia University director of athletics Tom Shirley announced that Paul Gornowski has been named the University’s director of sports information on Wednesday.

We are excited to have Paul join our staff,” said Shirley. "His vast experience in the SID field will be an asset to our operation. We look forward to him taking our SID office to the next level."

Gornowski will be responsible for the day-to-day communication efforts for the PhilaU Athletics Department. He will be the primary media contact for the Rams’ 16 NCAA Division II sports, maintain the department’s website—www.philaurams.comand coordinate game-day sports information operation.

“I want to thank Tom and his staff for this opportunity,” said Gornowski “I am very excited to be back at Division II. I can’t wait to get started working with the staff at PhilaU.”

Gornowski joins the Philadelphia University staff from Haverford College where he was the assistant sports information director. He is no stranger to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference after serving as the sports information director for cross-city rival Holy Family University from October 2007 until June 2010. During that time, Gornowski was the media relations liaison for the institution's 15 NCAA Division II sports, including the nationally-ranked women's basketball team. He was the interim sports information director at Millersville from November 2006 through October 2007 following time at Rowan as a grad assistant for the Profs' sports information office.

A 2005 graduate of Rowan University, Gornowski is an active member of Philly-SIDA, serving as the coordinator of the men's crew academic all-area team.
