This Week in Ram Athletics: Dec. 5-Dec. 11

Men’s Basketball

This Week:The Rams (3-3, 1-0 CACC) are off until Friday when they travel to Springfield, Mass., to take on American International College in the inaugural Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Holiday Showcase at 3 p.m. Philadelphia has a quick turnaround because the team hosts Nyack in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play at the Gallagher Center at 7 p.m.

Last Week: Philadelphia rallied from 10 points down to defeat Wilmington (Del.) 76-66 in the CACC opener on Dec. 3. Nick Schlitzer had a team-high 19 points in the win. Corey Francisco recorded his first double-double of the year with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Need to Know: Head coach Herb Magee was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in August. He was part of a Hall of Fame class that included Dennis Rodman, Chris Mullin and Arvydas Sabonis.

Women’s Basketball

This Week: The Lady Rams (5-2, 1-0 CACC) welcome a pair of CACC opponents to the Gallagher Center. Philadelphia hosts Georgian Court University at 6 p.m., and Nyack comes to take on the Lady Rams Saturday at 5 p.m.

Last Week: Philadelphia rattled off a pair of victories in completely different fashions. The Lady Rams, behind 24 points from Kristen Blye, came from behind to defeat host Lincoln (Pa.) University 62-61 on Nov. 30. Three days later on Dec. 3, the Lady Rams overwhelmed visiting Wilmington (Del.) University in an 87-49 triumph. Stephanie Agger and Megan Finn both scored 18 points.

Need to Know: Blye was tabbed as the CACC’s player of the week after averaging 19 points and eight rebounds in the two Philadelphia wins.
