AUSTIN, TEXAS – Philadelphia University senior Taylor Falvey (York, Pa./York Catholic) was selected to the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-America Division II Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Third Team on Wednesday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Falvey is the first Philadelphia University student-athlete named to the Academic All-America Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Team. To date, seven Rams have earned Academic All-American honors in school history.
In cross country, Falvey raced her way onto the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) team for the fourth straight season after coming in third at the conference championship meet on Nov. 2. She was the 38th-place finisher in the NCAA Division II East Region Championship held on Nov. 22.
Falvey added a runner-up finish at the Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship, a third-place finish at the Wilmington University Cross Country Invitational, and a fifth-place finish at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial Championship.
In the spring, Falvey earned the CACC Women’s Track Athlete of the Year award with wins in the 5,000-meter run and the 10,000-meter run at the CACC Championship on May 3. She was also victorious in the 5,000 at the Collegiate Track Conference Championships on April 19.
A health sciences major with a 3.95 grade point average, Falvey brought home an impressive list of academic awards. She was named to the Capital One Division II Academic All-District 1 Women's Cross Country and Track & Field Team, United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team, CACC Fall All-Academic Team, CACC Spring All-Academic Team, Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Cross Country Team, and Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Track & Field Team.
