Men’s Runner Shawn D’Andrea Named PhilaU ‘Athlete of the Month’
Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University senior runner Shawn D'Andrea (Blackwood, NJ/ Paul VI) was named the PhilaU December ‘Athlete of the Month'. The honor is bestowed upon one PhilaU student-athlete per month, based on their achievements over that time period.
D'Andrea was named the Philadelphia Inquirer's ‘Runner of the Year' this January after leading the Rams to the 2009 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) title this past fall. He finished the 8K in second-place overall (27:29), earning himself a spot on the CACC All-Conference 1st Team.
The architecture major boasts a cumulative GPA over 3.0, and was honored at the 2008 Philadelphia Sports Writers' Association dinner for his achievements.
He currently owns the school record for the 8K (25:39), which he set at the Paul Short Invitational in '09.
