XC’s Sarah Simonetti Garners 1st PhilaU ‘Athlete of the Month’
Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University sophomore runner Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie, PA/ Pennridge) has been selected as the inaugural PhilaU ‘Athlete of the Month' for the 2009-10 school year.
Simonetti has already been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) ‘Runner of the Week' three times this year (of four possible weeks). She has won all but one race she's competed in this year, getting her best time of 19:26 in the 5K at the Philadelphia Metro Championship at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia on September 26th.
Last season, Simonetti was named CACC ‘Rookie of the Year', finishing as an All-Conference runner in fifth place at the conference championships.
The PA native will head to the Cabrini Invitational this weekend before getting a week of rest to gear up for the 2009 CACC Championships, held on Saturday (10/24) at 11:00 a.m. at Belmont Plateau.
