Cross Country Supports the 43rd Schuykill River Loop Run

Philadelphia,PA - The Philadelphia University Men and Women’s Cross Country team supported the 43rd running of the Schuylkill River Loop Run by managing the 5 mile water station for the race and also helping with race registration and race marshalling on the course.  The Schuylkill River Loop Run is a 8.4 mile running race that start and finishes at Boathouse Row with the route taking runners around the entire Loop around the West and East sides of the Schuylkill River Loop.  Over 400 runners participated in the Dec 5th race, which is the oldest continuously organized road race in the City of Philadelphia.

This was the 4th year in a row that the Philadelphia University Cross Country team has volunteered their time by setting up and managing the only water stop on the course.  Race director Ryan Walsh of the Bryn Mawr Running Company was grateful for the team’s help and a part of the smooth management of the race.   Proceeds from the Schuylkill River Loop Run are directed to the Fairmount Park Conservancy and Philadelphia Recreation and Parks.  Proceeds raised from the race are directed to help in the annual maintenance and special parks projects of the parks and trail system in Philadelphia.
