PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson Men’s Soccer team signed Chase Gilchrist before Thursday's 2017 season opener against West Chester University. This signing kicks off Childhood Cancer Awareness month, September. Chase comes to Jefferson as part of the new partnership with the Kisses for Kyle Foundation.
Chase is five years old from Marlton, N.J. He was diagnosed at 12 months old with grade 3 anaplastic ependymoma brain cancer. He had surgery and 30 days of radiation. At the age of three and a half the cancer that was in remission returned. Chase went through another surgery, 33 days of radiation and six months of chemotherapy. His last scan was clear with no evidence of the cancer. Chase will attend matches and practices with the Rams throughout the fall season.
The Kisses for Kyle Foundation is dedicated to helping families residing in the Delaware Valley region who are fighting childhood cancer. From the diagnosis through the course of treatment and beyond, Kisses for Kyle Foundation offers support and financial support for families with children ages birth though 21 who are battling cancer.
