Quint Earns First Collegiate Win as Rams Top Felician College 10-8

Freshman pitcher Victor Quint (pictured) earned his first career collegiate victory on Friday afternoon as Philadelphia University registered a 10-8 win over Felician College at home, kicking off a key three-game Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) series with the Golden Falcons. The win, the fifth straight for the Rams, improves them to 16-18 overall and 14-6 in the CACC.
Head Coach Mark Heineman's team took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning, highlighted by an RBI triple from junior Kyle Noonan that cleared the bases. The Rams added a run in the top of the second inning to make it 5-0 when sophomore second baseman Tyler Mentzer hit a sacrifice fly that plated senior outfield JungMin Lee. Eventually, Philadelphia University built an 8-2 lead, but the visiting Golden Falcons scored five times in the bottom of the seventh to trim the lead to 8-7. The Rams gave themselves a little breathing room with a two-run ninth as Lee drove in two runs with a double. In the bottom of the ninth, Felician scored once and had the bases loaded with two outs, but senior Zach Mentzer closed the door, inducing a game-ending fly ball to earn his first save of the season.
Quint threw 6 2/3 strong innings for the victory while four
relievers combined to secure the win. At the plate, Noonan
went 2 for 5 with a run and three RBI while Tyler Mentzer added two
RBI.
The Rams and the Golden Falcons will meet on Saturday, April 26th,
in a conference doubleheader at Alumni Field with both programs
looking to remain in the hunt for a CACC Tournament berth.
