Rams Collect 11 Hits, Register 5-4 Win over Post University

The Philadelphia University baseball team pounded out 11 hits, taking a 5-4 victory from Post University at home on Friday afternoon. With the triumph, the Rams improve to 3-13 overall and even their mark in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) at 2-2.
The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when
sophomore second baseman Tyler Mentzer connected on his second
homerun in as many days. Head Coach Mark Heineman's team
extended the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth when junior
outfielder Dan Ellmer drove in senior shortstop Tyler Mentzer with
an RBI double.
Philadelphia University pushed the lead to 4-0 with a pair of runs
in the bottom of the fifth inning with the big blow coming off the
bat of junior designated hitter Kyle Noon, who picked up an RBI
triple.
The visiting Eagles cut into the lead in the top of the sixth
inning with a pair of runs, ultimately tying the contest at 4-4 in
the top of the seventh inning. However, the Rams scored the
game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning when senior
outfielder JungMin Lee (pictured) collected an RBI single that
scored freshman third baseman Anthony DiFrancesco with one
out. Junior right hander Rob Fisher closed the door on the
Eagles in the ninth inning, striking out the side in earning the
win in relief.
Heineman and his team will be back in action on Sunday, April 6th,
hosting Wilmington University in a key CACC doubleheader at Alumni
Field.
