Rams Split Twinbill at Post to Clinch CACC Regular-Season Title, Top Seed in League Tourney

The Philadelphia University baseball team earned a split in today's doubleheader at Post University in Waterbury, Conn., as the host Eagles notched their tenth straight win with a 3-2 decision in the opener, before Head Coach Mark Heineman's Rams rallied to win the nightcap in eight innings by the same 3-2 margin.
After starting the year 2-12 through March, Philadelphia closed the regular season on a 19-8 run through April and May to finish with an overall record of 21-20, their first winning campaign since 1999.
The Rams were an impressive 19-8 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games, good enough to finish in a tie for first place in the league with Caldwell College. However, by virtue of their 2-1 record against the Cougars this season, Philadelphia University has earned the top seed in the CACC Baseball Tournament, beginning this Thursday, May 8 at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Del., home of the Class A Blue Rocks, the Carolina League farm club for the Kansas City Royals.
So Caldwell is the #2 seed, followed by #3 Dominican College and #4 Felician College. The Rams were 1-2 against the Chargers and 2-1 versus the Golden Falcons during the regular season.
The scheduled first-round contests on Thursday are as follows:
Caldwell vs. Dominican - Noon
Philadelphia vs. Felician - 3:00 pm
The losers of these games will meet at 6:00 pm.
