Baseball Coach Mark Jackson Resigns to Take West Chester Job

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University has announced that Head Baseball Coach Mark Jackson has resigned, effective immediately.  Jackson will become the new full-time head coach at West Chester University, beginning in 2010.

Jackson's position at PhilaU was part-time.

"We're sorry to lose Mark and we wish him the best of luck in his new full-time coaching position at West Chester," said PhilaU Athletic Director Tom Shirley.

Jackson had only been at PhilaU for six months, hired on July 6th, 2009 as the newest baseball coach after the resignation of former skipper Mark Heineman.

Jackson had yet to coach an ‘in-season' game for the Rams, who kick-off their 2010 season on February 27th vs. Molloy College in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  He takes over a WCU team that was ranked #2 in the country last season and went to the NCAA DII College World Series.

A replacement has not been announced and a search will begin immediately.
