Baseball Splits Home CACC Opener vs. Caldwell
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University baseball team (2-7, 1-1 CACC) split their home Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener on Saturday over the Caldwell College Cougars (5-4, 1-1 CACC). The Rams picked up an early 4-1 win, and then dropped the nightcap 19-12.
On the day, PhilaU junior pitcher Kevin McGovern (Philadelphia, PA/ Archbishop Ryan) picked up his second win of the season, going all nine innings in the first game and striking out five. PhilaU senior hurler Brian Rousseau (Wantagh, NY/ Wantagh) took the loss in the second game for the Rams.
Offensively, PhilaU was led by senior shortstop Tyler Mentzer (Gettysburg, PA/ Delone Catholic) who racked up two homers in the second game (a three run shot and a solo homer).

Ryan) and freshman catcher/infielder Kevin Gibbs
(Pitman, NJ/ Pitman) each tallied RBIs in the win.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday (3/23) vs. Bloomsburg University at 3:00 p.m. in a single game at Alumni Field.
