Rams Win It In The Eighth Against USP, 8-6.
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University baseball team (9-18, 7-8 CACC) faced the University of the Sciences away for their first conference match-up against the Devils on Wednesday afternoon. The Rams won the game in the eighth inning scoring four runs to make it 8-6.
Starting the game off on the mound for the Rams was freshman utility player Jeff Bohus (Cherry Hill. NJ/Cherry Hill East). Relieving Bohus in the fifth and getting the win was junior pitcher Jared Farbman (Philadelphia, PA/ Central).
In the second inning junior third baseman Anthony DiFrancesco (Landenberg, PA/Salesianum H.S.) scored, making it 1-1, after junior outfielder Kevin McGovern (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) was walked.
At the top of the fourth inning senior shortstop Tyler Mentzer (Gettysburg, PA/Delone Catholic H.S.) hit a double bringing in both sophomore second baseman Dan Hennigan (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) and sophomore utility Joe Thayres (Thorofare, NJ/West Deptford). The Rams went into the bottom of the fourth leading 4-1.
In the bottom of the fourth and fifth USP scored five runs gaining the lead, 6-4. But the Rams rallied back in the eighth scoring four runs. Bohus, in the designated hitter position, hit a triple bringing in two runs. DiFrancesco singled bringing in Bohus and scored later on a double by senior infielder Rob Fisher (Langhorne, PA/Archbishop Ryan H.S.).
The teams Senior Day is this Saturday (4/24) home at Alumni Field against Felician College for a 12:00 p.m. start.
