Baseball 2010 Season Highlights

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University baseball team ended their season with an overall record of 14-19 and 11-9 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).  The season came to an end with the team on a five game winning streak. 

Standouts for the PhilaU team were senior short stop Tyler Mentzer and junior third baseman Anthony DiFrancesco who led the team offensively.  Mentzer was named CACC 'Player of the Year' and was selected as the Ram's only All-Conference player.  He batted a .404 for the season, scoring 39 runs with seven being home runs.  He was also a leader in the field with a fielding percentage of .938.  DiFrancesco batted a .347 for the season and lead the team with 118 RBIs.

Rising star freshman utility Jeff Bohus was a true play anywhere type of guy.  Highlights included his win against Kutztown on the mound and also holding a .274 batting average for the year.

The team’s key pitcher was junior Kevin McGovern who ended the season with a 2.13 ERA.  In pitching 71.2 innings he recorded 53 strikeouts for the Rams.
