Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Rams baseball team starts off the season (2/27) at the Northeast Baseball Challenge in Myrtle Beach vs. Molloy College. The team comes back from a record of 17-27, 14-13 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) last season.
New interim head coach John DiMeglio takes the reins in 2010 after serving as assistant coach under Mark Jackson in the fall.
The Rams will be returning several key players this season: senior short-stop Tyler Mentzer, CACC 1st Team All-Conference selection, led the team at bat .340 and .898 fielding in 2009. Senior pitcher/first basemen Rob Fisher returns after going (.246 b/avg-.978 f/avg) last season. Jared Farbman, returning CACC ‘Pitcher of the Week' went 4-4 last season (54 strikeouts/5.83 ERA) last season.
Other key seniors include outfielder Mike Anderson (.218 b/avg-.953 f/avg) and Brian Rousseau. Rousseau went 4-3 from the mound (49 strikeouts/2.60 ERA) in 2009.
The team also has four incoming freshman this season, two pitchers, a catcher and an infielder.
