Philadelphia PA – The Philadelphia University baseball team (2-13, 1-3 CACC) fell to East Stroudsburg University (17-4, 3-1 PSAC) 11-10 in a 10 inning match. Efforts for PhilaU were led by senior shortstop Anthony DiFrancesco who came away with two runs and three RBIs.
PhilaU was the first to score off an RBI from rookie centerfielder Rick Reigner which brought DiFrancesco home after his double. The Rams would then find themselves in the hole as ESU drove in four runs in their next appearance at bat.
Another run in the second inning by PhilaU's senior catcher Matt Minakowski added to PhilaU's drive, but ESU quickly answered in the sixth with five more runners scoring. In the seventh, sophomore infielder Kevin Giambri and Reigner each crossed home leaving the Rams trailing 9-4.
Giambri and Minakowski each ended with two runs in the game.
The maroon and grey would even the odds in their turn at bat in the eighth inning. DiFrancesco stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and sent one into center field with a triple, crossing home plate on an ESU error with three RBIs to call his own.
The teams went to the tenth inning tied at 10-10. ESU notched an RBI single in the extra inning and would walk away with the 11-10 victory.
Moyer earned the win for the Warriors on the mound while freshman Don Bradley took the loss for PhilaU.
The next matchup for the Rams will be on the road against West Chester on Wednesday (3/30) at 3:00 p.m.
