Rams drop 16-3 decision to No. 17 West Chester
WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- The Philadelphia University baseball team was defeated by No. 17 West Chester, 16-3, in its final non-conference contest Monday afternoon at Serpico Stadium.
Shellock's hit was his second home run of 2012, a solo blast in the eighth inning.
Shortstop Kyle DeGenaro scored Philadelphia's first run on an error in the third inning. Despite not getting a hit in the sixth, Uhlak was able to circle the bases. Uhlak walked to open the inning and moved to third when third baseman TJ Burgmann was hit by a pitch and Shellock walked. Uhlak came home on a wild pitch.
Third baseman Jordan Wlodarczyk led the West Chester (33-9) offense with two-run doubles in a three-run third and a four-run fourth.
Right fielder Rob Lessig, first baseman Chris Pula, designated hitter Justin Lamborn, and left fielder Matt Baer knocked in two runs each. Baer's two RBIs came on his eighth home run of the season in the fourth inning.
Starter Conor Kerins was the winning pitcher for the Golden Rams. Kerins struck out four in three innings, while allowing one unearned run on two hits.
Philadelphia's Mike Ross suffered the loss after giving up nine runs (six earned) on six hits in four innings. He fanned one.
Philadelphia wraps up the 2012 season with a home Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest against Wilmington (Del.) Wednesday, May 2 at 3:30 p.m.
