Baseball’s Quaranta Named Second Team Summer Collegiate All-American

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Senior Brandon Quaranta (Poughkeepsie, N.Y. / Arlington) of the Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) baseball team was named a 2017 Perfect Game/Rawlings Summer Collegiate All-American on Thursday. Quaranta was selected to the All-America Second Team. The news was announced via a Perfect Game press release.

Quaranta played for the Strasburg Express in the Valley Baseball League in Strasburg, Va. With the Express in the summer of 2017, he played in 38 games, owning a slash line of .331/.448/.623. The senior had 22 extra-base hits, split evenly between doubles and home runs. He knocked in 49 runs and scored an additional 36 runs himself.

He also appeared in 12 games as a pitcher with a 1.58 earned run average across 17.2 innings to go along with 20 strikeouts and four saves.

The Express finished third in the Valley Baseball League North Division, going 22-19.

With the Rams in the spring of 2017, Quaranta played in 47 of 48 games and was named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference First Team (CACC). He led the team with 15 home runs, 41 runs batted in, 12 stolen bases and 34 walks. The Poughkeepsie native was one of two Rams to finish with 100 total bases.
