The Killer B's: Buck, Bloomfield Lead Field Hockey's Shutout of Cabrini

On Monday afternoon, October 15th at Alumni Field, Head Coach Christy Knab's field hockey team notched a 1-0 victory over the visiting Cavaliers from Cabrini College. The game was scoreless after one half of play; but 8:17 into the second half, freshman midfielder Lynette Buck deflected an attempt from senior tri-captain midfielder Karen Bloomfield (pictured) into the top shelf of the net, for the game's only and decisive tally. The goal was scored off of one of the eight penalty corners earned by the Lady Rams today, as they yielded only six to the Cavaliers-all of those coming in the second half.
For Buck, it was her second goal of the year, and the first game-winning strike of her young collegiate career. For Bloomfield, it was her third assist of the season, and ninth of her career. Senior tri-captain goalkeeper Jess Snyder recorded five saves, all in the second half of play, as the Cavaliers pressed the action late in the game to finish with a total of eight shots. Snyder also registered her second shutout win of the season. The Lady Rams outshot Cabrini 13-8 in the contest. The victory ups the Philadelphia University field hockey team to 5-12 in the 2007 season, which wraps up on Saturday, October 20th at 12:00 noon for the Senior Day game, as the Lady Rams host the Cougars of Misericordia University.
