Field Hockey Makes Senior Day Memorable, Wins 2-1

Head coach Christy Knab's team completed their season today, picking up a 2-1 win over visiting Misericordia University. The Cougars led the contest 1-0 at halftime, but two unanswered second-half goals from sophomore forward Lauren Piontkowski provided the margin of victory as the Lady Rams finished the season with a two-game winning streak and an overall record of 6-12. Piontkowski netted the winning tally with 3:30 left in the game, and it was her team-leading 11th goal of the season, which ties teammate Brooke Woodland for fourth place in University history for season goals scored. In addition, her 24 points tie for fifth in the school record books for single-season scoring. Senior goalkeepers Anne Strobel (pictured) and Jess Snyder combined for the victory in their last game as Lady Rams, with Strobel being credited for the win as a result of her second-half shutout performance. Fellow seniors Karen Bloomfield, Allisin Wagner, Shannon Carlino and Kirstin Thomson also ended their field hockey careers this afternoon, all contributing at both ends of the field in the victory.
