Two-Sport Standout Brooke Woodland Named NCAA Postgraduate Scholar

Senior Brooke Woodland, one of the top two-sport standouts in the history of Philadelphia University athletics, was recently awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Woodland, a native of West Grove, Pa., was given the scholarship for her work in the classroom as well as her accomplishments on the field of play and she will stay at the University next year in pursuit of her MBA.
In field hockey, Woodland is a three-year starter for the Lady Rams and has already set school records for career goals (37) and career points (86) in just three seasons while also holding the school record for single-season goals with 15 and points with 37, both set in 2006. A womensfieldhockey.com Freshman All-America in 2004, she missed the 2007 campaign while recovering from a knee injury suffered during the 2007 women's lacrosse season and will use her final year of eligibility this fall for Head Coach Christy Knab.
Woodland has also made her mark on the women's lacrosse field, earning IWLCA/US Lacrosse second-team All-North Region accolades as a sophomore in 2006. A promising junior campaign was cut short by a knee injury, but she returned in fine form as a senior this past spring, ranking fifth on the team in scoring with 39 points. Her 27 goals and 12 assists marked career highs for Woodland, who concluded her career with 108 points. For her efforts, she was named the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Player of the Year.
