Field Hockey Cruises to 4-1 Win over Phila. Biblical
Philadelphia, PA- Senior Carson Mumma (Lancaster, PA/ Penn Manor) netted the first goal of the game just two minutes into Philadelphia University's match as the Lady Rams cruised to a 4-1 win over Philadelphia Biblical University (3-11) on Friday afternoon. The win was the first home victory for the Lady Rams in 2008.
Senior Brooke Woodland (West Grove, PA/ Avon Grove) banked in the game-winner at 19:14 in the first period to go up 2-0, assisted by sophomore Megan Stefanides (Kingston, PA/ Wyoming Valley West).
PBU's Erin Rohrer netted the Eagle's only score of the match at 29:12 in the second stanza to close the gap 2-1.
The Lady Rams were not quite finished as junior Leah Arthur (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) sank her first goal of the year at 46:36, assisted by junior Lauren Piontkowski (Haddon Heights, NJ/ Haddon Heights).
Stefanides scored for Phila U. at the 58:00 mark, assisted by Piontkowski to give the Lady Rams a 4-1 victory. THe Lady Rams outshot the Eagles 22-4.
In goal, senior Anne Strobel (Middlebury, CT/ Pomperaug) got the win to improve to 4-8 on the year, making one save. Phila U. junior Stivi Genca (Westmont, NJ/ Haddon Twp.) saw 26 minutes of action in the net, and freshman Kelsey Gavigan (Cape May, NJ/ Lower Cape May) had one save in nine minutes of play.
PBU goalie Lauren Roth had 11 saves in the loss.
The Lady Rams are back in action at home on Sunday, October 12th vs. Adelphi at 12:00 p.m.
