Field Hockey Wins 2nd Straight, 3-1 over Adelphi


Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University field hockey team (5-10) streaked to two straight wins with a big 3-1 victory over Adelphi University 3-6 on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.  Senior Pam Koons (Palmerton, PA/ Palmerton) had the game-winner, assisted by fellow senior Brooke Woodland (West Grove, PA/ Avon Grove) in the first period.

The Lady Rams took a 1-0 lead early in the first period as junior Leah Arthur (Silver Spring, MD/ Springbrook) got an unassisted score.  Koons followed up with her first goal of the year at the 32:02 mark to take a 2-0 lead.

Junior Lauren Piontkowski (Haddon Heights, NJ/ Haddon Heights) added an insurance goal at 52:27 in the second period to make it a 3-0 tally, but the Lady Panthers broke their silence with a score from Jeanette Heimerle with just three minute remaining.

Senior goalie Anne Strobel (Middlebury, CT/ Pomperaug) had four saves in goal, while AU's Jacqueline Grant had 12 stops for the Lady Panthers.

The Lady Rams will have no break as they face Seton Hill College tomorrow (Monday, October 13th) at 4:00 p.m. at Alumni Field.
