PhilaU's Field Hockey Senior Brooke Woodland Named 2008 Philadelphia Inquirer

RADNOR, PA - Philadelphia University senior forward Brooke Woodland has been named the 2008 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey Performer of the Year. Woodland is one of 12 student-athletes selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey Team. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In 2008, Woodland led the Rams with 32 points, matching her own single-season school record with 15 goals and two assists. She was recently named to the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) South All-Star Team. She is also listed fourth and seventh in the NCAA Division II rankings in goals per game (1.07) and points in a season (32), respectively.

Woodlands owns the Philadelphia University single-game record for points (9) and goals (4). She claimed All-America recognition from www.womensfieldhockey.com in 2005. Woodland earned Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area distinction as a sophomore. She is a two-sport athlete, also playing four seasons for the Rams women's lacrosse team.

Woodland is joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey Team by Delaware Valley College's Bethany Pavlik, Drexel University's Whitney Enck and Colleen McAndrew, Whitney Madron of La Salle University, Rachael DiCicco of Neumann College, Saint Joseph University's Krista Bordogno, Swarthmore College's Natalie Stone, Charise Young of Temple University, Jennie Moore of Ursinus College, Villanova University's Sam Coveleski and Widener University's Trina Menta.
