Field Hockey Can’t Catch Up in 3-2 Loss to Neumann

Aston, PA- The Philadelphia University field hockey team (1-7) scored with nearly one minute left in regulation, but fell short in a 3-2 loss at Neumann College (1-6) on Thursday afternoon. 

The Lady Rams were led senior forward Brooke Woodland (West Grove, PA/ Avon Grove), who netted both goals. 

Neumann picked up their first two scores in the first period from Rachael DiCiccio.  Woodland responded at 41:31 to net her first shot, assisted by senior Carson Mumma (Lancaster, PA/ Penn Manor).

The Knights tacked on the game-winning score at 54:35, to take a 3-1 lead.  As time winded down, Woodland dropped in a goal at 68:26 to make it 3-2.  The Lady Rams could do no more as they dropped their fourth straight.

Junior goalie Stivi Genca (Westmont, NJ/ Haddon Twp.) had three saves in the first period, while freshman keeper Kelsey Gavigan (Cape May, NJ/ Lower Cape May) made one stop in the second period for the Lady Rams. 

Phila U. will take on Delaware Valley College on Saturday, September 20th at 12:00 p.m in their next contest.
