Field Hockey Gets Second Win in 3-2 Victory Over Delaware Valley College
Doylestown, PA- The Philadelphia University field hockey team (2-7) stopped a five-game win streak by Delaware Valley College (6-2) in a 3-2 win on Saturday afternoon, just their second win of the season. Senior forward Brooke Woodland (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) scored two goals in the match, tallying four goals on the week.
Sophomore midfielder Lynette Buck (Aquashicola, Pa./Palmerton) scored at 39:15 to put the Lady Rams on the board 1-1 in the second period, just after DVC put up their first score of the match.
Woodland then went on a offensive tear, banking a penalty shot at 55:16 to give Phila U. a 2-1 lead, then scoring unassisted at 62:40 to go up 3-1.
DVC would come back and score at 68:35 to edge closer, but the Lady Rams would pull out the 3-2 victory.
Senior goalie Anne Strobel (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug) had six saves on the day.
Phila U. will host Widener on Wednesday, September 24th at 4 p.m. in the featured 'Game of the Week'.
